棋盤大會。 唐太宗時。 薛仁貴西征被困於西唐。 二路元帥仁貴之子薛丁山與其母柳氏金定其妹薛金蓮和程咬金前往救。 至棋盤山。 竇一虎劫薛軍的糧不果。 匪妹竇仙童迎戰並擒丁山。 程咬金做媒。 兩對兄妹結為夫婦。 皆大歡喜。 同往救薛仁貴之困。 喻冤家變親家。 賊匪從良。
The Great Chessboard Meeting: During the reign of Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, Xue Rengui was trapped in Xitang during his western expedition. Two generals, Xue Dingshan (Xue Rengui's son) and his mother, Mrs. Liu, along with his sisters Xue Jinlian and Cheng Yaojin, went to rescue him. When they reached the Chessboard Mountain, Dou Yihu attempted to rob Xue's army of its grain but failed. Dou Xiantong, the bandit's sister, challenged them to a fight and captured Dingshan. Cheng Yaojin acted as a matchmaker, and the two pairs of siblings married each other, resulting in great joy. They then jointly went to rescue Xue Rengui. The story signifies the transformation of enemies into in-laws and bandits, turning over a new leaf.
