智遠投軍。 劉智遠（知遠）。 沙陶（沙陀族）人。 劉志遠與妻李三娘居舅家。 舅嫌其貧。 哄志遠往瓜園。 欲給二瓜精吃掉。 志遠夜持鎗。 戰瓜精走入地。 掘開見劍。 拾之辭妻投軍。 投靠岳勳。 官至安撫使。 契丹滅晉。 中原無主。 智遠於晉陽即帝位。 改國曰後漢。 仍稱天福而不改元。
Zhi Yuan joins the army: Liu Zhi Yuan (Zhi Yuan), a Shatuo (Shatuo tribe) man. Liu Zhi Yuan and his wife, Li-San Niang, live in his uncle's house. The uncle dislikes their poverty and sends Zhi Yuan to the melon field, intending for two melon spirits to eat him. Zhi Yuan goes at night with a spear and fights the melon spirits, driving them underground. He digs the ground, finds a sword, and picks it up. He then says goodbye to his wife and joins the army, seeking refuge with Yue Xun. He rises through the ranks to become an Anfu Envoy. The Khitans defeat the Jin, leaving the Central Plains without a ruler. Zhi Yuan ascended to the throne in Jinyang and established a new state called the Later Han. He continues to use the name Tianfu and does not change the era.
