Kong Ming selects generals. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang, also known as Kong Ming, was a native of Langya. At the end of the Han Dynasty, he lived in seclusion in Nanyang, studying the arts of astronomy, strategy, divination, and military tactics. He was an expert in all fields. Liu Bei visited him thrice in his thatched cottage, asking him to serve as a military strategist. When Cao Cao's general Xiahou Dun led an army to attack, Kong Ming raised his army. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were both reluctant to obey, but after the defeat of Cao's army at Bowang Slope, Liu Bei's army was victorious and Guan and Zhang became convinced of Kong Ming's strategies. When Liu Bei ascended the throne, he appointed Zhuge Liang as Prime Minister and entrusted him with his son. The later lord named him Marquis Wuqin. After his death, he was posthumously named Loyal and Martial.
