Why Watching Horror Movies Could Be Harmful to Your Energy

Horror Movies Could Be Harmful

A few days ago, I heard a story that once again reminded me how important it is to protect our personal energy.

A friend of mine, despite several warnings, insisted on watching horror movies — even though her health was already quite weak.

And it wasn’t just any day — it happened right around the time of the 7th Lunar Month, close to the 14th day (traditionally known as the Ghost Festival in Chinese culture).

This is a period where Yin energy is at its peak, and sensitivity to unseen influences is much higher.

As expected, soon after her movie marathon, she called me in distress:

she had suddenly developed unexplained bruises all over her body, and a persistent fever that wouldn’t go away even after medical treatment.

Concerned, I visited her home to take a look.

(Without going into too much detail, let’s just say the situation was not purely physical.)

What Went Wrong?

From a metaphysical point of view, the problem wasn’t the horror movie itself.

It was the concentrated intent behind it.

Think about it — the filmmakers' entire purpose is to instill fear, anxiety, and dread in the audience.

This powerful emotional imprint doesn’t just stay on the screen; it travels through the medium of the film into the viewers’ energy fields.

If your body's vitality is low, or if your mental defenses are not strong enough, you naturally resonate with that heavy, fearful frequency.

And because in metaphysics we understand that like attracts like, watching horror movies during periods of personal weakness — or during highly Yin periods like the Ghost Month — can easily lead to disturbances in health, mood, and even fortune.

The Hidden Energetic Impact

In Feng Shui, we often talk about how the environment can influence a person’s luck, health, and emotions.

But it's not just the physical environment that matters — mental and emotional inputs matter just as much.

Exposing yourself repeatedly to fear-based imagery can destabilize your internal energy.

Some common signs include:

- Sudden drops in mood or motivation

- Feeling physically drained

- Increased tendency toward bad luck or accidents

- Sleep disturbances and vivid nightmares

- Heightened feelings of anxiety or unease

A Better Choice for Your Well-being

My suggestion is simple:

It’s better to avoid horror movies, especially during times when your health feels low or during energetically sensitive periods like the Ghost Month.

Instead, fill your environment — and your mind — with uplifting, joyful content.

Watch comedies, listen to music that lifts your spirit, or engage in activities that make you laugh and feel light-hearted.

Remember:

In Feng Shui, one of the greatest forms of protection is raising your own vibrational energy.

Happiness, positivity, and lightness of heart act as natural shields against heavy, disruptive energies.

Life already offers us enough challenges.

Let’s choose entertainment that nurtures, rather than drains, our inner strength.
