Pomegranates have long been a fruit with positive symbolism in our heritage; pomegranate blooms are red, and fruit maturing is red, indicating the family's wealth. There are also more pomegranate seeds, which symbolise more children and benefits. It is also used to ward off evil.

Scientific Name: Punica granatum 'Nana'

Description: Pomegranate is commonly called "Xia Liu Hua" (pronounced in Hokkien) by locals. It is a type of plant with bright orange-red flowers which is known to help chasing away evil things. Pomegranate is a bushy, compact small-sized shrub which able to grow up to about 1m tall. The leaves are narrowly oblong and have a glossy surface.

Light: Full Sun to partial sun

Water: Requires regular watering. Check and water as needed, never let the soil dry out completely.

Fertilizer: Fertilize with all-purpose fertilizer at least once a month to encourage growth.

Trimming: Gently trim away dry, brown, or yellowish leaves or root by using a pair of secateurs.
